The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. We teach children important life skills, positive mental health strategies, and self-confidence through hands-on classes in sewing, textile arts, cooking, building, coding, and more. Our programs are designed to support children’s social and emotional development while also giving them practical skills they can carry into adulthood. Whether we’re working with children in schools, libraries, shelters, or in our own studios, our goal is always the same, empower young minds through creativity.
One of the most exciting and impactful events we host each year is our Creativity Rocks fashion show. Now in its 11th year, this show is more than just a runway, it’s a celebration of everything our students have learned and created. Inspired by "OZ" , this unforgettable event gives students the opportunity to design and model their own clothing, showcasing their creativity, courage, and individuality in front of a live audience. It’s a powerful reminder of how artistic expression can build confidence, connect communities, and transform lives.
The 2026 Creativity Rocks fashion show also serves as a vital fundraiser to support our newest initiative: #SEWNEXTGEN. Every ticket sold, every donation given, and every cheer from the audience helps us continue our work of inspiring the next generation of makers.

The Creativity Shell, founded by Shelancia Daniel, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to using creative arts education to teach life skills, promote mental health, and inspire the next generation of makers. For the past 10 years, the organization has proudly served thousands of children through sewing, cooking, art, and STEAM-based programs in schools, libraries, shelters, juvenile justice facilities, and its own creative studios.

The Creativity Shell is now expanding its national reach through the launch of the #SEWNEXTGEN program, an initiative designed to equip sewing shops and educators across the world with the tools they need to teach children how to sew. Together, we are preserving the art of sewing and empowering the next generation with creativity, confidence, and purpose.

The #SEWNEXTGEN website does not sell sewing machines but we are more than happy to connect you with a local BERNINA dealer in your area.

If you are looking to start, expand, or sustain sewing programs for kids, we invite you to join us! Membership in the #SewNextGen Campaign starts free and can be customized at different levels based on the services and support you want or need.

The #SewNextGen program is partnering with local schools and community spaces to host children’s workshops. If teaching isn’t for you, you can still make an impact by donating and supporting this program to ensure more kids gain access to sewing education.
